Lynch is brilliant. His analogy (in Flood and Fury) of a potter needing to let his wayward creation fold back in on itself to start again is excellent.

His explorations of the Hebrew authors’ conception of the impact of our violence as something that intimately

impacts the earth are so important as well- not just helping us read the text, but letting the text read us.

Fascinating ideas.

I wonder how it works out when God tells humans to kill other humans, as when the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, after fleeing slavery in Egypt, are told by God to slay the Canaanites.
